Santa Fe Sports
The New Mexico Style were an American Basketball Association franchise founded in 2005, but reformed in Texas beginning with the 2007-8 season as the El Paso S'ol. The Santa Fe Roadrunners were a North American Hockey League team, but are reforming for the 2007-8 season in Kansas as the Topeka Roadrunners.
Recreation
Skiing and snowboarding amid the aspens under
clear blue skies is a favorite winter activity in the
Santa Fe area. Ski Santa Fe, located below the Sangre de
Cristo mountain peaks, boasts 1,725 vertical feet of
skiing. The mountains provide the ski enthusiast with
beautiful pathways of powder and a panoramic view of the
surrounding terrain.
There is ice-skating year-round in Santa Fe at the Genoveva Chavez Center. This is an NHL regulation ice-skating rink!
Water sports are very popular in New Mexico. Whitewater rafting and kayaking are available on the Rio Grande, and flyfishing is popular on the Pecos River and lakes located an hour or so from Santa Fe. Boating, windsurfing and swimming at the many surrounding lakes are also favorite activities.
Enjoy all outdoor activities! Santa Fe is also a Mecca for campers, hikers, mountain bikers, rock climbers and, especially, photography buffs. No matter what your preference in recreation, you will find it here.
Golfing in Santa Fe
Northern New Mexico is a scenic paradise for those
who love the outdoors. Golfing is an almost year-round
activity. Here, golf enthusiast can enjoy the
beautifully groomed course at the Santa Fe Country Club
or experience the Marty Sanches Links de Santa Fe on an
18-hole championship course settled among the Sangre de
Cristo, Jemez, Sandia and Ortiz mountain ranges. The
Pueblo de Chochiti Golf Course, ranked by Golf Digest as
one of America's Top 75 Affordable Courses, is nearby.
Marty Sanchez Links de Santa Fe - This picturesque course, located southwest of the Santa Fe Plaza, is set against the stunning backdrop of 3 mountain ranges. Fairways favor accurate placement of f the tee to avoid approach carries over large greenside bunkers. Greens are a stern test, but uniformly fair. Hilly but walkable, this course rivals others with the scenic vistas providing a panoramic view of beautiful Santa Fe.

Golf Communities:
- Las Campanas maintains one championship course, Sunrise Golf Course, a private 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-signature golf course. Sunrise is rated the top course in New Mexico by Golf Digest magazine. Las Campanas is also a gated community including a clubhouse, spa, and equestrian facilities. Homes price range $700,000 - $3 million.
- Quail Run is a gated community with an 18 hole irons course. Clubhouse, restaurant, spa, indoor pool also included. Condos and homes price range, $300,000 - $500,000.
- Wedgewood on the Green is part of the Santa Fe Country Club. Available for each home within Wedgewood is a membership to the Santa Fe Country Club, Santa Fe's oldest club boasting an 18 hole golf course surrounded by lush trees. The pool, tennis courts, restaurant and bar are available only to members and their guests. Home price range, $164,000 - $225,000.
